Juventus vs Roma prediction

There will be fireworks when title holders Juventus take on fifth-placed Roma at Juventus Stadium in Turin. The Bianconeri look unstoppable at the moment, but the defending champions will have to prove their worth on the field.

Ten consecutive wins in Serie A!

Juventus endured a surprisingly slow start to the season, but the reigning champions somehow managed to overcome the crisis. A hard-fought 2-1 win in the Turin derby in October helped the team regain a much-needed confidence and the Bianconeri have been impressive in the national championship ever since. Max Allegri’s troops are on a ten-game winning run and they head into Sunday’s Serie A derby against Roma following a 1-0 win over Lazio in Coppa Italia. The defending champions are high on confidence ahead of the visit of Roma and seeing that a win over the Giallorossi would see them climb to top position in the standings, I am positive that the hosts will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s game. Paulo Dybala has been in a thrilling form of late and the summer signing, who scored a brace in a 4-0 victory over Udinese at the weekend, is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders.

Roberto Pereyra and Mario Lemina both miss the match with injury, but coach Max Allegri has no other selection worries ahead of the Roma game. Mario Mandzukic is likely to return to the starting XI after coming as a substitute in the Copa del Rey win over Lazio.

Scudetto – mission impossible

Roma, on the other hand, have yet to record a win in 2016. Following back-to-back draws with the likes of Chievo and Milan, the Giallorossi shared the spoils with Hellas Verona at the weekend and, as a result, the capital club are nine points behind league leaders Fiorentina. The Mastini ruined Roma’s title hopes, but the Romans are still in the race for a place in the Champions League. Sunday’s game against Juve is of big importance for the visitors, but beating the in-form Bianconeri in Turin is easier said than done. Luciano Spalletti’s men recorded their last win on the road on 25 October and it remains to be seen if they are capable of stopping the run of five matches without a victory away from home. Important attacker misses the match with injury, but fellow winger Mohamed Salah is fit and he is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back line.

Kevin Strootman and Gervinho are both sidelines with injury, but coach Luciano Spalletti has no other injury concerns. The Italian tactician is likely to stick to the 3-5-2 formation.

Quick Facts

  • Juve are after their eighth consecutive win at home ground
  • Bianconeri scored 2+ goals in each of their previous seven league games
  • Max Allegri’s men suffered their last defeat to Roma at home back in 2011 (Coppa Italia)
  • Roma are on a five-match winless run on the road
  • Giallorossi failed to keep a clean sheet in previous four league fixtures

Juventus vs Roma betting tip

Juventus are at the top of their game at the moment and seeing that Max Allegri is likely to field the best possible side against out-of-sorts Roma, I am tempted to back the defending champions to extend their winning run in Serie A to 11 games. Juve have been producing terrific displays in the national championship of late and given Roma’s poor away record, anything but a routine home win will be a big surprise. In their last meeting in Turin Juventus recorded a 3-2 win over Roma.

Tip: Juventus to win
