West Ham United vs Crystal Palace prediction
Boleyn Ground will host a clash between West Ham and Crystal Palace in the forthcoming Premier League round. The Hammers hope to arrest the negative trend against the Eagles on home soil and continue the battle for a top-four spot, while Alan Pardew’s charges want to record their first away victory in 2016.
West Ham United are eyeing a Champions League spot
Who would have thought that the Hammers could be one of the candidates for a place in the Champions League qualifiers at the beginning of the season? Slaven Bilic is doing wonders with West Ham this season, and, thanks to their outstanding displays, the Irons became this term’s giant killers. Boleyn Ground outfit deservedly hold the fifth position in the league and, if they continue with such performances, they could jump up a place or two in the overall standings as the season comes to an end. Dimitri Payet is a true leader of the team, the motor that keeps Bilic’s machinery running, while Manuel Lanzini provides enormous support in midfield. Two of them will present a handful to Pardew’s defenders in the upcoming clash and could put a stop to United’s negative run against the Eagles on homes soil, if given an opportunity.
Slaven Bilic has no fresh injury concerns before the upcoming encounter against Crystal Palace, and he will have the entire team at his disposal.
The Eagles could suffer a heavy landing
The fans are frustrated with the fact that Crystal Palace failed to record a single Premier League triumph in the last three months. Bearing in mind that the Eagles were sitting on the fifth place in 2015, the worst pessimists could not even suppose that Selhurst Park outfit would suffer such a drop in form. What was predicted to be a quite successful season that could have ended with European qualifications, turned out to be a possible battle against relegation as the term is moving towards the end. The fact of the matter is that Alan Pardew is under serious pressure and, possibly the only thing that keeps him at helm is the success in the FA Cup. The team from South Norwood have been struggling both in attack as well as in defense and the absence of Connor Wickham, their leading goal scorer will certainly not improve their effectiveness, as Emmanuel Adebayor is still searching for his killer instinct. Their defensive line has been rather drafty in 2016 and I do not believe things will improve much in the match against the Hammers.
As mentioned, Connor Wickham suffered a knock and will be sidelined for the upcoming match. Kwesi Appiah is still in recovering from his ACL injury, while James McArthur is out due to ankle injury.
Quick Facts
- West Ham are on a three-game winless run against the Eagles on home soil
- The Hammers lost a single match in their last twelve fixtures in all competitions
- Alan Pardew’s men are on a thirteen-game winless streak in the league
- Selhurst Park outfit recorded their last away triumph in mid -December
- Four goals were seen in each of their last three encounters
West Ham United vs Crystal Palace betting tip
High-flying West Ham United seem practically unbeatable at the moment, especially on home soil. The miraculous form of Dimitri Payet drives me to a conclusion that the France international will once again lead his team to victory and I do believe that the Hammers will hammer the Eagles this Saturday.
