Norwich vs Newcastle prediction

Norwich City and Newcastle United take on each other in the relegation six-pointer at Carrow Road. Both sides are desperate to grab something from the game and, no doubt, there will be fireworks when the two relegation-threatened teams face each other on Matchday 32.

Important win over WBA

Thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion Norwich City put an end to their eleven-game winless run in all competitions and, to make things even better for the fans, the team escaped the relegation zone. The Canaries are two points clear of bottom three ahead of Saturday’s relegation six-pointer against Newcastle United and a win over the Magpies would see them move a little closer to securing the top flight survival. However, given that Alex Neil’s troops have been struggling in front of goal of late, I do not believe that home win should be considered this time out. Norwich scored only one goal in previous three league games, but on the other hand, they managed to keep a clean sheet in previous two matches in the Premier League. The Canaries recorded their last win at home on 2 January, 2016 and it remains to be seen if they are capable of putting an end to the negative trend.

Key player Nathan Redmond and midfielder Alexander Tettey are both sidelined with injury, but coach Alex Neill has no other fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Newcastle United. Ryan Bennett and Steven Whittaker are both rated doubtful.

Hard times at St. James’ Park

Newcastle United were on the verge of suffering a loss to Sunderland in the Tyne and Wear derby, but Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic eventually scored the equalizer for the Magpies. Thanks to the 1-1 draw with the Black Cats new coach Rafa Benitez and his men put an end to their four-game losing run in the Premier League and they will be looking to return to winning ways when they square off against Norwich City in Saturday’s relegation six-pointer. It is well known, though, that Newcastle United struggle on the travels and considering that they are on a seven-game losing run on the road in the national championship, it is no surprise the Magpies are considered big underdogs in Carrow Road clash. Aforementioned attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic was on international duty at the weekend, but the Serbia international should keep his place up front.

Goalkeeper Robert Elliot and Tim Krul are both sidelines with injury, meaning that Woodman should start in goal. Jack Colback is banned, while Paul Dummett misses the match with injury. Fabricio Coloccini is major doubt.

Quick Facts

  • Newcastle United scored eight goals in previous three meetings with Norwich
  • Magpies recorded their last win at Carrow Road back in 1994
  • In previous two meetings between the two teams at Carrow Road no goals were scored
  • Canaries are on a six-game winless run at home
  • Newcastle failed to score in previous two away games

Norwich vs Newcastle betting tip

Both Norwich City and Newcastle United are determined to secure the Premier League survival and there is every chance both sides will fight tooth and nail in Saturday’s clash. The two teams played out a goalless draw in previous two meetings at Carrow Road and given that both teams have been misfiring of late, under 2.5 goals bet should be considered.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals
