Crystal Palace vs Liverpool prediction

The Eagles plan to continue the winning run against the Reds this Sunday at Selhurst Park, thus recording much needed points. Liverpool, on the other hand, want to build on the magnificent victory against the Citizens.

Unfortunate loss

Connor Wickham could have been a hero who secured his team a first league triumph after eleven attempts with a magnificent second-half brace, but Borini’s last-gasp hit secured a point for the Black Cats (2-2). Such run of events certainly affected the team’s morale. Even the manager Alan Pardew was rather disappointed after the match, claiming his team should have taken all three points. Although Wickham has been scoring for fun in last couple of games, it seems that his offensive skill is not an adequate compensation for Pardew’s drafty defense. Hennessey and his fellow defenders failed to save their net in nine straight Premier League fixtures, and with twenty conceded goals and only eight scored, it becomes obvious where the problem lies. The Eagles have been going through a rough patch for a while now and, if the downfall continues, they will be up for a heavy battle against relegation.

Jason Puncheon (knee), Kwesi Appiah (ACL), and James McArthur (ankle) are in the recovery room and will not be able to participate in this important clash.

A magnificent revenge

Even though Liverpool suffered a loss on penalties in the League Cup finals against the Citizens, it did not take them long to recuperate and prepare a magnificent revenge for Manuel Pellegrini’s charges. Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Adam Lallana are the main culprits for such an offensive success, since all three of them recorded a goal and an assist each. This was their second league triumph in a row and the goal difference 12/0 speaks about the perfect performances displayed in both matches. The continuation of miraculous showings is expected against below par Eagles, even though the Reds suffered successive league defeats against Alan Pardew’s charges. Judging by the current form of Anfield outfit, Jurgen Klopp will expect his charges to arrest the negative trend, since a win in this match would get them back in the race for Europe.

Klopp’s injury list is still rather long. Lucas Leiva (knock), Mamadou Sakho (head), Jordan Rossiter (hamstring), Joe Gomez (ACL) and Danny Ings (ACL) are still sidelined due to injuries.

Quick Facts

  • The Eagles won just one of their last six home games in all competitions
  • Palace scored more than once in just one of their previous twelve matches on home turf
  • Alan Pardew’s charges are on a twelve-game winless run in the league
  • The Reds recorded four clean sheets in five fixtures
  • Both teams achieved six triumphs at Selhust Park

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool betting tip

To be honest, Liverpool seem as a mutch better team at the moment. Jurgen Klopp’s charges are on the rise and it looks like they are finally about to start a consistent run of positive results. The Eagles are quite the opposite with their miserable winless streak, which is why I will put my money on the visitors.

Tip: Away win

Odds: 2.10 (11/10) @bet365
