Arsenal vs Watford prediction

Arsene Wenger’s charges want revenge against Watford in the upcoming clash, since the Hornets denied them a chance to battle for the third consecutive FA Cup trophy. Vicarage Road outfit will rely on Arsenal’s inconsistent form on home ground to try and repeat the success achieved more than a fortnight ago.

Wenger will remain at helm next season

Even though he was largely criticized by media and the fans lately, the Professor stated he is certain we will watch him on Arsenal’s bench next season. The French tactician has full support of the officials, who are satisfied how he runs matters in the club. No doubt the Gunners have been suffering from a dip in form which will probably result with them ending the season without silverware once again. Even Mesut Ozil admitted that Emirates Stadium lacked focus in recent matches and called the club’s management to open their check books in the summer for proper reinforcements. Even so, the Gunners will try to finish the season in front of the Spurs and their important victory against Everton (2-0) before the international break shows us they are getting back on track. The Holloway-based team now expect Watford and will do everything it takes to make amends for the loss in the FA Cup. Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi proved their worth in the clash against the Toffees, so we should expect both of them in the starting line-up.

Arsenal’s injury list is still rather long. Mathieu Flamini is still recovering from his hamstring injury, Santi Casorla (Achiles tendonitis) ended his season, Aaron Ramsey is out due to thigh muscle strain, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has knee issues, as well as Carl Jenkinson.

Watford have been struggling in the Premiership of late

With mere two league triumphs since the end of December (D3 L8), we can honestly say that the Hornets have suffered a serious dip in form. Such under-par displays brought Quique Sanchez Flores’ charges down to the fourteenth position in the overall standings, but they still have an eleven-point cushion between them and the danger zone. What can also worry the manager is the current barren run of his main hitman, Odion Ighalo. The Nigerian forward managed to hit a single goal in 2016, he is on a six-game barren run when on the road, while Troy Deeney is the only forward who is productive on their travels. The result of such futile forwards is mere two goals in their last five away fixtures. Even though Arsenal defenders are not the best on home soil, they are certainly capable of stopping such a toothless offense, unless there has been a drastic change in form during the international break.

Quique Sanchez Flores has only two players in the recovery room. Joel Ekstrand is out due to hamstring injury, while Rene Gilmartin has problems with his knee.

Quick Facts

  • Arsenal suffered one loss against Watford in their last six matches (W5)
  • The Gunners have been blowing hot and cold on home soil of late
  • The Hornets lost four of their previous five league matches on the road
  • Vicarage Road outfit netted mere two goals in the spell
  • More than 2.5 goals per game were seen in their last five encounters

Arsenal vs Watford betting tip

The Gunners are in a must win situation if they plan to keep pace with the Spurs and keep their slim chances for winning the league alive. With such a dreadful Premier League form of the Hornets, I am simply not convinced that Watford could repeat the success form the FA Cup, which is why I will put my money on the hosts.
