Arsenal vs Chelsea betting tip

Arsenal will be aiming to get their revenge on Chelsea for a 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture when the two local rivals square off against each other in Sunday’s London derby at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are eager to strengthen their grip on the Premier League title, but the match against Guus Hiddink’s men will be anything but a walk in the park for the league leaders.

Ozil and Sanchez are back!

Arsenal failed to impress against Stoke City at the weekend. The Gunners played out a goalless draw with Mark Hughes’ charges, but it has to be noted that Arsene Wenger couldn’t count on key players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for the game. Nonetheless, the duo should recover in time to face Chelsea in Sunday’s London derby and no doubt the hosts will look sharper in front of goal with Sanchez and Ozil in the starting XI. Arsenal are leading the chase for the Premier League trophy, but seeing that they are just one point clear of star-studded Manchester City, no doubt the Gunners will go for a win against Guus Hiddink’s chargers. Olivier Giroud has been scoring goals for fun in 2016, meaning that opposition defenders could find it hard to contain the French attacker.

Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck remain in the recovery room, but aforementioned duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil return to the starting line-up after overcoming their respective injuries.

Difficulties at the back

Chelsea have been producing much better performances in the Premier League ever since Jose Mourinho got fired, but the team experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-3 draw with Everton at the weekend. The Blues conceded five goals in previous two league games, but it has to be noted that they are on a seven-game unbeaten run under Guus Hiddink. The capital club are just four points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the local derby, meaning that their Premier League status will be in danger should they happen to suffer a loss in the Emirates Stadium clash. Diego Costa scored in the 3-3 draw with Everton and the former Atletico Madrid striker, who was more than fortunate not to be sent off in the reverse fixture, is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back line. You should have in mind that Chelsea are eyeing their only third away win of the season.

Eden Hazard remains a doubt, while Diego Costa should be fit to play against Arsenal. Fellow attacker Radamel Falcao remains in the treatment room, but coach Guus Hiddink has no other selection worries ahead of the London derby.

Quick Facts

  • Arsenal are on a six-game winning run at Emirates Stadium
  • Gunners scored 2+ goals in five of their previous six home games
  • Chelsea recorded only one win in last eight away fixtures
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in Chelsea’s last three league matches
  • Gabriel and Cazorla were both sent off in the reverse fixture

Arsenal vs Chelsea betting tip

As I have already mentioned, Arsenal are hungry for revenge and seeing that Arsene Wenger welcomes Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil back to the starting line-up, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts this time out. The Gunners have been impressive at home ground of late and given Chelsea’s poor away record, there is every chance the league leaders will pick up all three points from Sunday’s London derby.

Tip: Arsenal to win
