PSG vs Angers prediction

Having survived Toulouse in Coupe de France in midweek, PSG will be looking to extend their winning run to twelve matches in all competitions when they take on Angers at their Parc des Princes on day 22 of the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign.

Les Parisiens simply unstoppable

Paris Saint Germain want to win everything in the 2015/2016 campaign. Les Parisiens have been impressive in all competitions this season and they head into Saturday’s Ligue 1 game against Angers following a hard-fought 2-1 win over Toulouse in Coupe de France. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a late winner from the penalty spot for Laurent Blanc’s troops, with the team once again showing their character. PSG are on an eleven-game winning run in all competitions and they will be looking to keep their 100% record in 2016 intact when they square off against Angers on Saturday. Les Parisiens played out a goalless draw with the newcomers in the reverse fixture, but they are definitely capable of beating them at Parc des Princes. Laurent Blanc’s men have been scoring goals for fun at home ground, but they can’t afford any complacency against Angers. Anyhow, PSG are on the right track to win yet another domestic trophy as a win over Stephane Moulin’s troops would see them increase their advantage over Monaco to 24 points.

Thiago Silva has yet to overcome his injury, but he is the only absentee in the home team. Angel Di Maria is fit and he is widely expected to keep his place in the starting line-up.

Back-to-back defeats

Angers recorded a 2-0 win over Caen in their first league game of the new year, but Nice proved to be a big catch for the newcomers. Les scoistes dropped to third place in the Ligue 1 standings and seeing that they suffered elimination in Coupe de France in midweek, no doubt the visitors are low on confidence ahead of the trip to the “City of Lights”. Angers did well to share the spoils with PSG earlier this season, but they face an uphill task in Saturday’s game at Parc des Princes. Stephane Moulin’s team did remarkably well to beat Olympique Lyon on the road in December, but they suffered back-to-back defeats to the likes of Saint-Etienne and Nice in previous two away games and, taking everything into account, the newly-promoted side do not seem to be at the top of their game at the moment. Winger Pierrick Capelle has found his scoring boots of late and he will be one of the men to watch in the away team in the Parc des Princes clash.

Yohann Eudeline, Thomas Mangani and Ferebory Dore are all sidelined with injury, but coach Stephane Moulin has no other selection worries ahead of the Paris Saint Germain game.

Quick Facts

  • PSG are eyeing their eighth consecutive league win at Parc des Princes
  • Les Parisiens are undefeated in 31 league games
  • Laurent Blanc’s men scored 20 goals in previous five home fixtures
  • Angers recorded only one win in previous five away matches
  • Stephane Moulin’s charges are after their first ever win over PSG

PSG vs Angers betting tip

Paris Saint Germain are the dominant force in Ligue 1 and they want to get their job done in the national championship as soon as possible as they face tough challenges in the Champions League. Laurent Blanc can count on all of his key attackers and seeing that Angers have been struggling to find their form of late, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the defending champions, who are widely expected to extend their winning run to 12 games.
