Nice vs PSG prediction

High-flying Nice sit pretty in fifth after the midweek draw with Lorient, and having already defeated St Etienne, Bordeaux, Marseille and Lyon, les Aiglons hope to become the first Ligue 1 side to beat PSG this season. The Saints saw a nine-match winning streak end at Angers, but they will be looking for a straight return to winning ways.

No Ben Arfa, no party

Having spent the previous campaign fighting for their lives, Nice needed an X-factor this season, and they would soon get what they craved for as Hatem Ben Arfa decided to join les Aiglons after a disappointing spell in England. The France international didn’t need much to prove that he is still one of world’s best players on his day. The highly rated winger went on to score 7 goals in 15 league fixtures, helping the team climb to fifth in the standings, but he picked up an injury against Toulouse and is now a major doubt for the PSG clash. Deprived of their star attackers, les Aiglons understandably focused on defence in the midweek’s clash with Lorient and they did well to keep a clean sheet, although it is important to note that they have now failed to score in two successive matches and the trend could easily continue if Ben Arfa fails to recover in time. Nice also have few more first team regulars unavable for the visit of the Saints, meaning that the Ligue 1 holders could easily become the fourth team to defeat les Aiglons at their Allianz Riviera this season.

First choice keeper Mouez Hassen is still suspended, whereas Hatem Ben Arfa and Ricardo Pereira are both rated doubtful. Simon Pouplin, Mahamane Traore, Alassane Plea and Mickael Le Bihan are out injured.

Bad day against Angers

Paris Saint-Germain have been the dominant force in French Ligue 1 for several years now and they are cruising towards another league trophy. Nine successive league wins saw the Saints open up a 13-point lead at the top of the standings and with the likes of Lyon, Monaco and Marseille all struggling, the title is theirs to lose. Due to the hecti schedule of late, Laurent Blanc opted to rest a number of key men in midweek’s game with Angers, which definitely had an effect on the overall performance, as the Saints failed to create too many clear cut chances, failing to score for the first time in the current Ligue 1 season. But, while the attacking department should look much better when Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to the side against Nice, another solid defensive showing is definitely a reason for optimism, with the Saints conceding mere 8 goals in 16 league games. And with les Aiglons also a tough nut to crack, chances are that even one goal scored could prove sufficient to record a very important triumph at Allianz Riviera.

Important midfielder Blaise Matuidi is a major doubt with a thigh problem, whereas Marco Verratti, Javier Pastore and Gregory van der Wiel are unlikely to play.

Nice vs PSG betting tip

Even if Nice are likely to be without their top scorer and bets player Hatem Ben Arfa, the hosts will be able to rely on rock-solid back line, similar to their next opponents. And with mere six goals scored in PSG’s last four away matches in the league, under 2.5 goals seems like an obvious choice, with away win to nil a good alternative.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals
