Lyon vs Guingamp prediction

Having upset PSG in the Ligue 1 derby at the weekend, Lyon will be looking to give their fans yet another reason for celebration when they host Guingamp at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Great win over PSG

Lyon have been producing scintillating thrilling performances in the Ligue 1 ever since they moved to Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Les Gones are tough to beat at home and they proved their worth in a 2-1 win over PSG at the weekend. Bruno Genesio’s troops are eyeing a place in the Champions League and seeing that they are just one point behind top three, I am positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s clash against Guingamp. Olympique Lyon are on a three-match winning run at home ground and, no doubt, the hosts are high on confidence ahead of the visit of Guingamp. Alexandre Lacazette failed to score in previous two league games, but the 24-year-old attacker is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Jocelyn Gourvennec’s troops. Anyhow, les Gones are favourites to win Sunday’s clash, but they will have to prove their worth on the field.

Jordan Ferri is suspended, while Nabil Fekir, Corentin Tolisso, Mathieu Valbuena and Aldo Kalulu are all out of contention with injury. Alexandre Lacazette should recover in time to face Guingamp. Coach Bruno Genesio should stick to the 4-3-3 formation.

Difficulties at the back

Following back-to-back defeats to the likes of Bordeaux and Lorient, Guingamp played out a 2-2 draw with Angers in their last league game. Jocelyn Gourvennec’s team have been struggling at the back of late, with the team conceding 10 goals in previous three league matches. Anyhow, Guingamp are 10 points clear of the relegation zone and they are on the right track to secure yet another top flight survival. Jocelyn Gouvernnec’s charges are regarded as underdogs in Sunday’s game against Lyon and seeing that they have nothing to lose in the game against les Gones, I am positive that the visitors will stick to their attacking style of play. Sloan Privat finally scored at the weekend and he will be looking to add more goals to his account when Guingamp take on Lyon at Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Sloan Privat has netted six goals this season and he could prove a handful for the opposition defenders.

Dorian Leveque, Jeremy Sorbon and Nicolas Benezet are all sidelined with injury. Mamadou Samassa is unlikely to recover in time to face Lyon. Jimmy Briand is likely to be deployed up front, alongside Sloan Privat.

Quick Facts

  • Lyon are eyeing their fourth consecutive win at home
  • Les Gones have netted 14 goals at their new stadium so far
  • Lyon are eyeing their sixth consecutive win over Guingamp
  • Guingamp recorded only one win in last nine away fixtures
  • Over 3.5 goals were netted in Guingamp’s last three league games
  • Guingamp recorded their last win at Lyon back in 2004

Lyon vs Guingamp betting tip

Lyon have been impressive at the new stadium so far and they are widely expected to extend their winning run to four matches. Les Gones are determined to book their place in the Champions League and I am positive that the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game. Guingamp have been struggling at the back of late and, taking everything into account, the visitors are likely to return home empty-handed.

Tip: Lyon to win
