Real Sociedad vs Real Betis prediction

Real Betis did well to hold Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the weekend and their fresh confidence will be tested when they square off against Real Sociedad at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta on day 22 of the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign.

Heavy defeat to Sporting Gijon

Real Sociedad are not enjoying a season to remember. The Basques have been having their ups and downs ever since Eusebio Sacristan took over the reins, but following a 5-1 loss to Sporting Gijon the team dropped to the danger zone in the La Liga standings. La Real, though, are tough to beat at home ground and with Real Betis next I believe that they are capable of getting back on course. Eusebio Sacristan’s troops suffered only one loss in previous five home matches in La Liga, but they need to improve their game if they are to secure yet another top flight survival. Key attacker Imanol Agirretxe was sorely missed in the 5-1 loss to Sporting Gijon and seeing that he is unlikely to recover in time to face Real Betis, Jonathas will be deployed up front as a lone forward.

David Zurutuza, Esteban Granero and Carlos Martinez have overcome their respective injuries, but aforementioned attacker Imanol Agirretxe remains on the sidelines. Sergio Canales is out of contention as well.

Beticos proved their worth against Real Madrid

Real Betis continue their life after the club legend Pepe Mel. New boss Juan Merino is on a quest to help the team overcome the crisis and it has to be noted that they showed signs of improvements in previous two league games. Following a goalless draw with Villarreal, los Beticos did well to share the spoils with star-studded Real Madrid, but despite making life difficult for los Blancos Juan Merino’s men remained in the danger zone. Real Betis are desperate to put an end to their 11-match winless run in La Liga, but Saturday’s game against Real Sociedad, who are a real force to be reckoned with at home, will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors. The Andalusian outfit have been impressive at the back of late and it has to be noted that they conceded the goal against Real Madrid from a clear offside position. A man to watch in the away side will be experienced striker Ruben Castro.

Chelsea rising star Charly Musonda has joined the club on loan and he could play some part against Real Sociedad. Heiko Westermann has overcome his injury, but he is unlikely to be risked. Kadir and Piccini remain in the recovery room. Juan Vargas is suspended.

Quick Facts

  • Real Sociedad scored exactly two goals in three of previous five home games
  • La Real outclassed Real Betis 5-1 in their last meeting in San Sebastian
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in four of Real Sociedad’s previous five matches at “Anoeta”
  • Real Betis failed to score in last four away fixtures in La Liga
  • Los Beticos are eyeing their fifth away win of the season

Real Sociedad vs Real Betis betting tip

Both Real Sociedad and Real Betis have been misfiring of late. Los Beticos scored their last goal on the road back in November and seeing that La Real top scorer Imanol Agirretxe misses the match with injury, there is every chance we will see a low-scoring affair at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta. Real Betis recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the reverse fixture.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals
