Levante vs Valencia prediction

Levante and Valencia face each other in the local derby on Sunday. Both sides aim to return to winning ways in La Liga and no doubt there will be fireworks when the two teams take on each other at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

Alarming situation at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia

Despite grabbing one point from Sunday’s game against Real Sociedad, Levante remained in the last position in the La Liga standings. Los Levantinos did share the spoils with La Real at “Anoeta”, but it has to be noted that the hosts missed several clear-cut chances to score in the dying minutes of the game. Rubi’s men are five points behind the safe zone and they are desperate to put an end to their three-game winless run at home ground. Levante conceded eight goals in previous three league matches and it is no surprise they are regarded as underdogs in Sunday’s local derby against Valencia. January signing Giuseppe Rossi failed to impress in the 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, but Deyverson managed to find the net in the “Anoeta” clash and he will be the man to watch in the home team.

Pedro Lopez has overcome his injury, but Jose Mari remains in the recovery room. Juanfran is likely to be recalled to the starting XI. Coach Rubi should stick to the 4-4-2 formation.

Yet another dip in form

Valencia did well to beat Malaga at Estadio La Rosaleda on Matchday 27, but Atletico Madrid proved to be a big catch for los Che (1-3) at the weekend. Gary Neville’s troops have been having their ups and downs and they head into Sunday’s local derby following a 1-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League last 16, first leg. Valencia need to return to winning ways in la Liga as soon as possible if they are to book their place in European competitions, but Sunday’s game against their local rivals will be anything but a walk in the park for los Che. Gary Neville’s team recorded back-to-back away wins over Granada and Malaga, but they will have to prove their worth on the field this time out. Paco Alcacer has been struggling to find his best form in the second half of the season, but the Spanish attacker is widely expected to lead the attack for the away team.

Jose Gaya returns from suspension and he is likely to replace Guilherme Siqueira in the starting XI. Aderllan Santos is banned, meaning that Abdennour should be recalled to the starting line-up. Bakkali is out of contention with injury.

Quick Facts

  • Valencia scored exactly three goals in previous two meetings with Levante
  • Levante outplayed Valencia in previous three meetings at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia
  • Los Levantinos are eyeing their fifth home win of the season
  • Los Che recorded three wins in previous four away games in all competitions
  • Valencia recorded a routine 3-0 win over Levante in the reverse fixture

Levante vs Valencia betting tip

Sunday’s game at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia pits together the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the second half of the season. Levante aim to secure the top flight survival, while Valencia are eyeing a place in the Europa League. Seeing that both teams will go for a win in the local derby, I would not be surprised if see goals galore at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia this time out.
