Deportivo La Coruna vs Malaga prediction

Out-of-sorts Deportivo La Coruna desperately need a win against Malaga, but los Brancoazuis will have to be at their sharpest if they are to put an end to their 13-game winless run in La Liga.

Hard times at “Riazor”

Deportivo La Coruna were producing scintillating displays in the first half of the season, but the team suddenly suffered a dip in form. Los Brancoazuis have been struggling in La Liga ever since they recorded a win over Eibar on 19 December and they are desperate to stop the run of thirteen games without a victory. Victor Sanchez feels pressure ahead of the visit of Malaga, but he is aware of the fact that Saturday’s match could be the turning point for the Galician outfit. Deportivo were demolished by Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday evening, but seeing that los Brancoazuis are tough to beat at home, I would not be surprised if they grab something from the Malaga match. Lucas Perez has been firing blanks in the second half of the season, but the Spanish attacker should lead the line for the hosts against Malaga.

Juan Dominguez, Cani, Sidnei and goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto are all sidelined with injury. German Lux returns from suspension and he is likely to start in goal. Coach Victor Sanchez has no other selection worries ahead of the visit of Malaga.

Four-games winless run

Malaga, on the other hand, outclassed Getafe on 5 February, but they have been totally out of form of late. Los Boquerones somehow held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 25, but after dropping two points in the Estadio Municipal de Anoeta clash against Real Sociedad, Javi Gracia’s troops suffered a 2-1 loss to Valencia in midweek. Malaga are on a four-match winless run in the national championship and they are likely to leave their hearts on the field in Saturday’s clash against Deportivo La Coruna in order to return to winning ways in the league. Los Boquerones have not been impressive in front of goal and they are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence this time out. Duje Cop has found his goal-scoring touch of late and the opposition defenders could find it hard to contain the Croatian attacker, but only if he recovers in time to face Valencia

Midfielder Camacho picked up an injury against Valencia and he will be assessed on the match day. Duje Cop is rated doubtful as well, while Juanpi misses the match through suspension.

Quick Facts

  • Deportivo are on a 13-match winless run in La Liga
  • Los Brancoazuis failed to score in two of their last three league
  • Victor Sanchez’s men recorded their last league win on 19 December
  • Malaga are on a four-match winless run in La Liga
  • Los Boquerones are undefeated in last six meetings with Deportivo La Coruna

Deportivo La Coruna vs Malaga betting tip

Both Deportivo La Coruna and Malaga have been struggling in the national championship of late, but despite the fact that both teams are desperate to grab something from Saturday’s clash, I do not believe that we will see a high-scoring affair in Galicia. Both teams have been misfiring of late and, taking everything into account, one goal should separate the two sides in the Estadio Municipal de Riazor clash.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals
