Jamaica vs Venezuela Team News

Andre Blake, Rodolph Austin and Wesley Morgan all return to contention after missing the Chile friendly with injury. Joel Grant came as a substitute and scored against Chile and he is pushing for a start. Coach Winfried Shafer has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Copa America opener. Damano Salomon is included, but he is unlikely to make his Jamaica debut against Venezuela.

Eduardo Herrera, Daniel Benitez, Victor Garcia, Jhon Cancellor, Arles Flores, Jeffren Suarez, Andres Ponce and Jacobo Kouffati did not make Venezuela Copa America squad. Adalberto Penaranda is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up after he came as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Guatemala. WBA striker Salomon Rondon scored the equalizer against Guatemala and he is likely to lead the line for Venezuela against Jamiaca. La Liga ace Anor should keep his place in the starting line-up as well.

Quick Facts

  • Jamaica have yet to record a win at Copa America
  • The Reggae Boyz failed to score at the 2015 Copa America
  • Venezuela suffered four defeats in previous five games at Copa America
  • Under 1.5 goals were scored in Jamaica’s last three games at Copa America
  • Salomon Rondon could earn his 50th cap for Venezuela against Jamaica

Jamaica vs Venezuela Prediction

Jamaica are desperate to record their first ever win at Copa America and, no doubt, the Reggae Boyz will leave their hearts on the field in Sunday’s clash against Venezuela. Winfried Shafer’s men produced a fine display in the 2-1 triumph over Chile and that is the main reason why I am tempted to put my money the underdogs this time out. Venezuela failed to impress against Guatemala and there is every chance Jamaica will grab something from their Copa America opener.

Betting Tip: Jamaica not to lose

Odds: 1.55 (6/11) @bet365
