Slovakia vs Latvia prediction

Slovakia will be looking to extend their winning run to four games when they take on Latvia at Stadion Antona Malatinskeho on Friday evening. The Latvians recorded their last win back in November 2014 and it remains to be seen if they are capable of putting an end to their 12-game winless run.

Slovaks preparing for Euro 2021 finals

Slovakia missed out on a place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but Jan Kozak’s men will participate at the 2016 European Championship finals. The team finished their qualifying campaign in second place in Group C, five points behind title holders Spain and it has to be noted that they managed to defeat la Furia Roja in front of home fans. The Slovaks kicked off their preparations for Euro 2021 with a win over Switzerland (3-2) and they recorded a routine 3-1 victory over Iceland in their last warm-up game. Napoli ace Marek Hamsik is undisputedly the team’s key player and he should help Jan Kozak’s team extend their winning run to four games. You should bear in mind that Slovakia scored 10 goals in previous three matches in all competitions.

Filip Holosko has declined a return to the national team in order to help FC Sydney save the season. Robert Mak and Erik Sabo have received call-ups, while key defender Martin Skrtel has overcome his injury and he is likely to start. Plzen goalkeeper Matus Kocazki could start in goal.

12-game winless run

As expected, Latvia failed to qualify for the European Championship finals, with the team finishing their qualifying campaign in the last position in Group A. The Latvians are on a 12-game winless run at the moment and they will be looking to record their first win since September, 2014, when they take on Slovakia in Trnava on Friday night. Anyhow, the visitors will have a mountain to climb in the Stadion Antona Malatinskeho if they are to upset the high-flying Slovakians and, no doubt, Marians Pahars’ team will be happy with one point from the game. A man to watch in the away side will be Artoms Rundevs, who players for Hamburger SV II. It has to be noted that the Latvians are after their first ever win over Slovakia.

Aleksandrs Cauna has been left out of the squad, with Roberts Savalnieks stepping up to replace him. Coach Marians Pahars has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Slovakia.

Quick Facts

  • Slovakia scored ten goals in previous three games
  • Slovaks netted exactly three goals in each of their last two home fixtures
  • Jan Kozak’s troops failed to keep a clean sheet in previous five meetings with Latvia
  • Latvia are after their first ever win over Slovakia

Slovakia vs Latvia betting tip

David faces Goliath in Trnava. Slovakia impressed in the Euro 2021 qualifiers and they will be looking to extend their winning run to four games when they take on Latvia in their third warm-up game ahead of the start of the showpiece tournament in France.
