Luxembourg vs Bosnia prediction

After failing to qualify for Euro 2021 finals, Bosnia and Herzegovina have turned their focus to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The Balkan Dragons take on Luxembourg in their first warm-up game and the former Yugoslavian republic will have to prove their worth on the field.

Luxembourg eyeing their first ever win over Bosnia

As expected, Luxembourg failed to make it to the Euro 2021 finals, with the team recording no more than one win in the process. Luc Holtz, though, is still in charge of the team and it has to be noted that his men did well to upset Greece in a friendly game in November. Four days later, though, Luxembourg suffered a 2-0 loss to Ronaldo-less Portugal and they will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Bosnia on Friday night. Luc Holtz’s troops will face the likes of Netherlands, France, Sweden, Belarus and Bulgaria in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and it remains to be seen if they will serve as a cannon fodder for their rivals once again.

Daniel De Mota should recover in time to face Bosnia, while Cedric Sacras has been recalled to the squad. Luc Holtz has given call-ups to five F91 Dudelange players: Keving Malget, Jonathan Joubert, Tom Schnell, David Turpel and aforementioned Daniel da Mota.

Focus on WC qualifiers

Bosnia and Herzegovina participated at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but the Balkan Dragons failed to qualify for the European Championship finals. Republic of Ireland proved to be a big catch for the Bosnians in the play-offs, with Roma ace Edin Dzeko failing to impress in the return leg. Mehmet Bazdarevic’s men are now fully focused on the preparations for the World Cup qualifiers where they will take on the likes of Estonia, Belgium, Cyprus and Greece. The Dragons have not been handed a tough draw and they certainly have big ambitions for the upcoming qualifying campaign. Coach Mehmet Bazdarevic has a number of top-class players to choose from, but he could rest some of his first-team regulars in Friday’s game against Luxembourg. Aforementioned attacker Edin Dzeko, who has netted 44 goals for the national team, is widely expected to lead the attack for the visitors against Luc Holtz’s troops,

Mujdza, Medunjanin and Hajrovic have all been left out of the squad, while Bajic and Hodzic made the U-21 squad. The likes of Vrsajevic, Mesanovic, Krunic and Kodro are out of contention as well. As expected, Roma ace Miralem Pjanic has received a call-up.

Quick Facts

  • Luxembourg suffered four defeats in previous five matches
  • Luc Holtz’s men are after their first ever win over Bosnia
  • Luxembourg scored only one goal in previous five meetings with Bosnia
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of Bosnia’s last four games
  • Bosnians failed to keep a clean sheet in last four away matches

Luxembourg vs Bosnia betting tip

David faces Goliath at Stade Josy Barthel. Bosnia emerged triumphant in each of their last five meetings with Luxembourg and they are widely expected to extend their winning run. The Balkan Dragons aim to start a new winning run following the loss to Republic of Ireland in the Euro 2021 play-offs and I am positive that Mehmet Bazdarevic’s men will take Friday’s friendly very seriously.
