Liechtenstein vs Faroe Islands prediction

Faroe Islands will be looking to keep their 100% record intact in matches against Liechtenstein when the two teams take on each other in Marbella in a friendly game. The Blues-Reds are on a seven-game winless run and they will not have better chance than this to return to winning ways.

Poor performances in Euro 2021 qualifiers

Liechtenstein were struggling in the Euro 2021 qualifiers, with the team recording one win in the process, while suffering seven defeats. The team were producing awful displays in the last three games in their qualifying campaign and it has to be noted that they conceded 14 goals in matches against Montenegro, Russia, Sweden and Austria. Rene Pauritsch’s troops failed to score in previous five games, but they are certainly capable of putting an end to their goalless run on Monday as they take on Faroe Islands in Marbella. Liechtenstein were beaten by the Islanders in previous three meetings between the two teams, meaning that the home team are hungry for revenge. It has to be noted that Rene Pauritsch’s troops head into the game following a goalless draw with Gibraltar.

Coach Rene Pauritsch could make some changes to the team that faced Gibraltar. The likes of Burgmeier, Kaufmann and Jehle are the only three Vaduz footballers in the squad. A man to watch in the away side will be Marcel Buchel, who plays in Empoli on loan.

Four-game losing run

As expected, Faroe Islands failed to qualify for the Euro 2021 finals, but the team produced some good performances in their qualifying campaign. The Islanders recorded two wins over Greece in the process and it has to be noted that they did well to leave the Galanolefki behind them in Group F. Faroe Islands kick off their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers with a game against Liechtenstein and they will be looking to record their fourth consecutive win over Rene Pauritsh’s team when the two sides take on each other in Marbella on Monday. Faroe Islands are on a four-game losing run at the moment, but they are certainly capable of grabbing something from their first warm-up game. Lars Olsen’s men failed to score in two of their last three away matches, but Liechtenstein definitely suit the visitors.

Gregersen returns to contention after missing the Romania game through suspension. Kaj Leo Bartalsstovu, who plays for Dinamo Bucharest, will be the man to watch in the away side. OB attacker Joan Simun Edmundsson is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up.

Quick Facts

  • Faroe Islands are eyeing their fourth consecutive win over Liechtenstein
  • Liechtenstein failed to score in previous five games
  • Faroe Islands are on a four-match losing run
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in four of Faroe Islands’ last five away matches
  • Lars Olsen’s team recorded a 3-1 win over Liechtenstein in their last meeting (2002)
  • Liechtenstein recorded their last win at home against San Marino last year

Liechtenstein vs Faroe Islands betting tip

Liechtenstein suit Faroe Islands, but seeing that the two teams last met on the international stage 14 years ago, I am not tempted to put my money on Lars Olsen’s charges this time out. Both teams were struggling in front of goal in the Euro 2021 qualifiers and there is every chance we will see a low-scoring affair in Marbella.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.70 (7/10) @Betfair
