Ipswich vs Blackburn prediction

Ipswich will be aiming to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Cardiff City when they square off against Blackburn Rovers at their Portman Road Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Tractor Boys are eyeing a place in the Championship play-off and this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts.

Important game for Ipswich

Following back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town played out a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers in their penultimate away fixture in the Championship. However, the Tractor Boys failed to grab something from Saturday’s game against Cardiff City, with the team suffering a 1-0 loss to the Welsh outfit and as a result they dropped to ninth place in the standings. Ipswich are four points behind the play-offs berth at the moment, but a win over Blackburn Rovers could see Mick McCarthy’s troops move a little closer to the play-off places. The Tractor Boys are eyeing their eighth home win of the season, but they will have to be at their sharpest on Tuesday evening if they are to pick up all three points from the match. A man to watch in the home team will be Brett Pitman, who has netted 10 goals in all competitions this season.

David McGoldrick is sidelined with injury, while Ryan Fraser is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Brett Pitman and Jonathan Douglas are likely to be recalled to the starting XI.

Upsetting loss to Leeds

This Blackburn side is just a pale shadow of the team that participated in the English Premier League in the past. The Riversiders have been struggling to find their best form in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and, as things stand now, they are unlikely to take part in the play-offs. Paul Lambert does not seem to be capable of bringing glory days back to Ewood Park and he will be more than satisfied should his team happen to secure yet another Championship survival. Blackburn head into Tuesday’s game against Ipswich Town following a 2-1 loss to Leeds United in front of home fans and it has to be noted that the team suffered four defeats in previous seven league games. Jordan Rhodes is no longer part of the team and in his absence, new signing Danny Graham will be the man to watch in the away side. You should know that the Riversiders failed to record a win in previous seven away games in the Championship.

Coach Brett Pitman has no fresh selection worries ahead of the trip to Ipswich and he could field the same side that faced Leeds United at the weekend. Tony Watt is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors against Ipswich.

Quick Facts

  • Ipswich failed to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine home fixtures
  • Tractor Boys failed to beat Blackburn in previous four meetings between the two teams
  • Blackburn Rovers scored only one goal in previous three away games
  • Riversiders are on a seven-game winless run on the road
  • Blackburn scored five goals in last two meetings with Ipswich

Ipswich vs Blackburn betting tip

Ipswich Town aim to start a new winning run in the Championship and seeing that the Tractor Boys are in a position to fight for a place in the play-offs, I am positive that the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in Tuesday’s clash against Blackburn. The Riversiders struggle on the travels and I am tempted to back Ipswich to record their eighth home win of the season.

Tip: Ipswich to win
