Hull vs Wolverhampton prediction

Hull City will be looking to strengthen their grip on a place in the Championship play-offs when they take on Wolverhampton at their Kingston Communications Stadium on Friday evening. The Wolves have little to play for in the season finale, but they certainly want to finish the campaign in the top half of the standings.

Automatic promotion just a dream

Hull City impressed in the first half of the season, but, against all odds, the Tigers have been struggling to find their best form in 2016. As a result, Steve Bruce’s men are unlikely to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League. Hull sit in 4th place in the Championship standings ahead of Matchday 42 and they are no less than ten points behind second-placed Burnley at the moment. The Tigers, though, are with one foot in the play-offs, but they can’t afford any complacency in the remainder of the season. A win over Wolves should help Hull move one step closer to meeting their goal and it remains to be seen if they are capable of registering their 13th home win of the season. Steve Bruce’s troops outclassed Bristol City in their last home fixture, but you should have in mind that the Tigers recorded only one win in last eight league games.

Sone Aluko has overcome his injury and he could be recalled to the starting line-up. Sam Clucas is fit as well, while Michael Dawson misses the match with injury. Moses Odubajo returns from suspension.

Little to play for

Wolverhampton have been having their ups and downs in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and, as a result, they sit in 12th position in the standings ahead of Matchday 42. The Wolves played out a goalless draw with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend and it has to be noted that the team failed to score in three of their last five league matches. Kenny Jackett’s troops, though, are on a six-game unbeaten run in the Championship and they will be aiming to retain their spot in the top half of the table with a win over Hull City on Friday evening. Nonetheless, seeing that Wolverhampton recorded only one win in last eight away games, I do not believe that away win should be considered this time out. A man to watch in the away team will be James Henry, who has netted seven goals in the league so far.

Michal Zyro suffered a serious injury against MK Dons, with the Polish player joining the likes of Jordan Graham, Mike Williamson and Nouha Dicko in the recovery room.

Quick Facts

  • Wolverhampton scored 1+ goals in each of last five meetings with Hull
  • Hull City are on a ten-game unbeaten run at home (Championship)
  • Tigers managed to keep six clean sheets in last eight home games in the league
  • Wolves registered only one win in last eight away fixtures in the Championship
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in four of Wolverhampton’s last five league games

Hull vs Wolverhampton betting tip

Hull City aim to clinch their spot in the Championship play-offs and seeing that Wolverhampton are stuck in the middle of the table, I believe that home win should be considered in this one. The Tigers have been playing below expectations in the second half of the season, but they are a real force to be reckoned with at home and I am tempted to put my money on Steve Bruce’s troops.

Tip: Hull City to win
