Birmingham vs Leeds prediction
Birmingham City will be looking to keep their hopes of securing a place in the Championship play-offs alive with a victory over Leeds United on Tuesday evening. The Whites have nothing to play for in the St. Andrew’s Stadium clash, but their pride will be at stake this time out.
Blues still believe
Following back-to-back defeats to the likes of Charlton Athletic and Brighton Birmingham City recorded a 2-0 win over Reading at Madejski Stadium. The Blues managed to stop the run of five matches without a win and they will be looking to move a little closer to the play-off places with a triumph over Leeds United on Tuesday evening. Birmingham City are nine points behind top six, but it has to be noted that they have one game in hand. The game against the Whites is of big importance for the hosts and no doubt Gary Rowett’s troops will leave their hearts on the field in order to pick up all three points from the match. The Blues recorded their last win at home on 3 March, with the team beating promotion-chasing Hull City at their St. Andrew’s Stadium. New signing Kyle Lafferty should keep his place up front and he is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back line.
Coach Gary Rowett has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Leeds and he is likely to field the best possible side against Whites. The English tactician is likely to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation.
Lack of motivation
Leeds United have been totally out of form in April. The Whites are on a four-game winless run ahead of the trip to Birmingham and they have little to play for in Tuesday’s Championship match. Steve Evans’ men occupy 15th place in the standings at the moment, but they have already secured the Championship survival. Leeds head into the game following a 1-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor and it is no surprise they are regarded as underdogs in Tuesday’s encounter at St. Andrew’s Stadium. Australian attacker Chris Wood has overcome his injury and he is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up. Anyhow, Leeds face a difficult task in the game against the Blues and I do not believe that away win should be considered. Birmingham City outplayed the Whites in the reverse fixture and, no doubt, the visitors will give 100% to get their revenge on Gary Rowett’s troops.
Coach Steve Evans has announced that he would make changes to the team that failed to record a win in previous four league matches. Souleymane Doukara has yet to serve his ban.
Quick Facts
- Birmingham recorded only one win in last six league matches
- Blues scored exactly one goal in each of their last five home fixtures in the Championship
- Leeds United failed to keep a clean sheet in nine of their last ten away games
- Whites are on a four-game winless run in the league
- Under 2.5 goals were scored in previous three meetings between the two teams
Birmingham vs Leeds betting tip
As I have already mentioned, Leeds United have nothing to play for in Tuesday’s clash against Birmingham City and given that the Blues face a must-win situation in the St. Andrews’ Stadium clash, home win appears on the cards. The Whites have been totally out of form of late and there is every chance Steve Evans’ troops will return home empty-handed.
Tip: Birmingham City to win
