Manchester City vs Dynamo Kiev prediction

Manchester City will be looking to defend their big lead in the Champions League tie against Dynamo Kiev when they host the Ukrainian side at their Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Citizens with one foot in the quarter-finals

Manchester City have already won a trophy in the 2015/2016 season, with the team clinching the Capital One Cup trophy, but they will certainly give their best to record a good result in the Champions League knockout stages. The Citizens recorded a 3-1 win over Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine, meaning that they are on the verge of making it to the Champions League quarter-finals. Manuel Pellegrini’s troops played out a goalless draw with Norwich City at the weekend and you should have in mind that they failed to create a decent opportunity to score during the match. Kun Aguero found the net in the first leg and he will give 100% to start a new goal-scoring run after failing to impress against Norwich City. Manchester City defeated the likes of Sevilla and Borussia M’gladbach in previous two home fixtures in the Champions League and they are definitely capable of beating the Ukrainian outfit in front of home fans. Anyhow, the Citizens are with one foot in the quarter-finals of the elite competition.

Fabian Delph, Kevin de Bruyne and Samir Nasri remain in the recovery room. Coach Manuel Pellegrini is likely to field the same starting XI that faced Dynamo in the first leg and he is likely to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Mission impossible?

Dynamo Kiev are leading the chase for the Ukrainian Premier League trophy, but, as things stand now, they are unlikely to make it to the Champions League quarter-finals. The Ukrainians need to record a big win over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, but beating the Citizens on the road is easier said than done. The visitors have nothing to lose in Tuesday’s clash and no doubt they will go all-out attack in the return leg. Dynamo recorded a 2-1 win over Karpaty at the weekend, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in the Eithad Stadium clash. Sergiy Rebrov’s troops recorded only two wins in previous six away games in the Champions League and, taking everything into account, they are doomed to failure. As before, all eyes will be on Arsenal target Andriy Yarmolenko, who is capable of making life difficult for the opposition back line.

Coach Sergiy Rebrov can’t count on the likes of Burda, Moraes, Morozyuk, Myakushko and Petrovic. Danilo Silva and Rybalka are both doubtful and the duo will be assessed on the match day.

Quick Facts

  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in each of Man City’s last five games
  • Manuel Pellegrini’s troops are eyeing their third consecutive win at home
  • Citizens scored 1+ goals in previous seven home fixtures in the CL
  • Dynamo Kiev scored in previous 11 games on the road in the CL
  • Kolarov scored the winner for Man City in their last meeting at Etihad Stadium (1-0)

Manchester City vs Dynamo Kiev betting tip

Manchester City aim to win their second trophy of the season and they certainly want to record yet another win over Dynamo Kiev. The Ukrainians head into the match with the lack of confidence and seeing that the Citizens are a real force to be reckoned with at home, I believe that there is a certain value in betting on the Premier League side this time out.

Tip: Manchester City to win

Odds: 1.57 (4/7) @bet365
