Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction

Roma and Bayer Leverkusen square off against each other at Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening. The Giallorossi aim to climb to the second place in Group E, they are likely to all guns blazing at the Bundesliga side and it remains to be seen if we will see yet another high-scoring affair in the “Eternal City”.

Important match for Giallorossi

Roma have yet to record a win in the 2015/2016 Champions League campaign. The Giallorossi shared the spoils with Barcelona in their opener, but they suffered a shocking 3-2 loss to BATE Borisov in their second group game. The Romans, though, produced a thrilling display against Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena, but they eventually dropped a two-goal advantage in the dying minutes of the game. As a result, Rudi Garcia’s men sit in the last position in Group E and, as a result, they are widely expected to adopt an attack-minded approach in Wednesday’s match against the Bundesliga team. Roma head into the match following a 1-0 loss to Inter at Giuseppe Meazza, but it is well known that the Giallorossi are a real force to be reckoned with at home. A win over Bayer would see the Romans climb to second position in Group E, but Wednesday’s match against Roger Schmidt’s troops will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts.

The likes of Kevin Strootman, Seydou Keita, Elio Capradossi and Francesco Totti are all sidelined with injury, whilst Daniele De Rossi is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day.

Germans showed character in the BayArena clash

Bayer Leverkusen were on the verge of suffering a loss to Roma at BayArena, but the Budesliga side battled back and eventually played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with the Italian outfit. Javier Hernandez Chicharito even missed a golden opportunity to score the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match, but, anyhow, Roger Schmidt’s men look impressive in front of goal. Bayer have netted 15 goals in last four matches in all competitions, but the team have been struggling at the back of late. Roger Schmidt’s troops suffered a 2-1 loss to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga derby at the weekend, with Chicharito scoring a consolation goal for the BayArena outfit. The former Manchester United forward is widely expected to keep his place up front and he will surely pose a big threat for Roma defenders. It has to be noted that Bayer Leverkusen suffered a 2-1 loss to Barcelona in their first away fixture in the Champions League group stages.

Charles Aranguiz, Roberto Hilbert, Tin Jedvaj and Seung-Woo Ry are all out of contention through injury, whilst Lars Bender and Kevin Kampl are doubtful and the duo will be monitored ahead of the kick-off.

AS Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen betting tip

The two sides played out the high-scoring 4-4 draw at BayArena two weeks ago. Rock-bottom Roma are eager to pick up all three points from the Stadio Olimpico game and seeing that the Bundesliga team have been scoring goals for fun of late, there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Both sides are capable of creating a number of clear-cut opportunities to score and, taking everything into account, we are about to see yet another high-scoring affair on Wednesday evening.
