Wolfsburg vs Hoffenheim prediction

Out-of-form Wolfsburg will be looking to return to winning ways in Bundesliga when they take on Hoffenheim at Volkswagen Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves aim to regain place in top four, but the clash against Markus Gidsol’s men will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts.

One win in five matches

Wolfsburg chiefs were forced to sell key player Kevin de Bruyne in the summer transfer window and the Belgian winger has been sorely missed at the start of the new Bundesliga campaign. His replacement Max Kruse has yet to start paying off and it is no surprise the Wolves sit in ninth place in the standings, no less than 12 points behind league leaders Bayern Munchen. Dieter Hecking’s men were outclassed by the defending champions at Allianz-Arena last month and they have yet to recover from the heavy loss (1-5). Following a 1-1 draw with Hannover, Wolfsburg suffered a 2-0 defeat to Borussia M’gladbach in their last league match before the international break and, to make things even worse for the fans, the Wolves were beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League game. Bas Dost is the team’s top scorer and he is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Hoffenheim.

Key midfielder Luiz Gustavo has overcome his respective injury and he is likely to be recalled to the starting XI. Vieirinha returns to contention too and he will surely play some part against Hoffenheim.

Signs of improvement

Hoffenheim made a slow start to the 2015/2021 Bundesliga campaign, but the team have been raising their form week by week and thanks to a 2-2 draw with Stuttgart they moved away from the relegation zone. Markus Gidsol’s men are on a three-game unbeaten run in Bundesliga and it has to be noted that the team have netted five goals in last two league matches. However, Hoffenheim face a difficult task in Saturday’s clash against Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena and it remains to be seen if the visitors are capable of grabbing something from the game. Summer signing Kevin Kuranyi has yet to open his goal-scoring account, but fellow attacker Kevin Voland has already netted five goals this term. Mark Gidsol’s troops are after their second away win of the season and you should have in mind that they outplayed Augsburg at WWK Arena in their last away fixture in Bundesliga.

The likes of Tarik Elyounoussi, Kai Herdling and Jiloan Hamad are all likely to miss the match with injury. Edu Vargas should start the match up front, alongside Kevin Volland.

Wolfsburg vs Hoffenheim betting tip

When Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim take on each other in Bundesliga a high-scoring affair is guaranteed. In last three meetings between the two sides in the national championship 13 goals in total have been netted and seeing that both teams aim to return to winning ways, there is every chance we will see a lively contest at Volkswagen Arena. Both coaches can count on their key attackers and, taking everything into account, there is a certain value in betting on both teams to score.

Tip: Both teams to score
