Borussia M’gladbach vs Borussia Dortmund prediction

All eyes will be on Stadion im Borrusia-Park when Borussia M’gladbach and Borussia Dortmund take on each other in what is expected to be the most entertaining clash of Saturday’s program. The Millionaires aim to stay in the race for the Bundesliga title, but die Fohlen should not be underestimated.

Impressive home record

Borussia M’gladbach did remarkably well to beat Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in December and they finished the first half of the season on a high, with the team beating Darmstadt in their last game in 2015. Die Fohlen have been scoring goals for fun at home ground this season and it has to be noted that they have netted eight goals in previous three home games at their Stadion im Borussia-Park. Borussia M’gladbach failed to book their place in the Champions League knockout stages, but they did well to make life difficult for each of their three opponents in Group D (Juventus, Man City, Sevilla). Andre Schubert is doing a great job with die Fohlen and they are certainly capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s game against title-chasing Borussia Dortmund. A man to watch in the home team will be Raffael, who has netted eight goals in all competitions this term.

Alvaro Dominguez, Jantschke, Herrmann, Hahn and Schulz all miss the game with injury, while Granit Xhaka misses the match through suspension. Coach Andre Schubert has no other selection worries.

Every game is a must-win game

Borussia Dortmund are determined to put an end to Bayern Munich’s dominance in Bundesliga. The Millionaires finished the first half of the season in second place in the standings, eight points behind Pep Guardiola’s troops, meaning that this has to go down as must-win match for the title-chasing side. Thomas Tuchel’s team have been impressive in January friendlies and they will be looking to kick off the second half of the season with a win when they take on Borussia M’gladbach at Stadion im Borussia-Park. Borussia Dortmund suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Koln in their last league game, but they need to be at their sharpest against die Fohlen if they are to avoid yet another defeat in the national championship. The good news for the fans is that Marco Reus returns from suspension and the Germany ace is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders.

Coach Thomas Tuchel can’t count on the likes of Bonmann, Schmelzer, Bender and Nuri Sahin. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is likely to lead the attack for the Millionaires against Borussia M’gladbach.

Quick Facts

  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in previous 11 M’gladbach’s games in all competitions
  • Die Fohlen are on a seven-game unbeaten run at home ground in Bundesliga
  • Borussia Dortmund are eyeing their sixth away win of the season
  • The Millionaires scored failed to keep a clean sheet in previous four away matches
  • Thomas Tuchel’s team scored 11 goals in last four league matches

Borussia M’gladbach vs Borussia Dortmund betting tip

Both Borussia M’gladbach and Borussia Dortmund have been impressive in front of goal this season, but seeing that the hosts head into the match with a severely-weakened squad, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the Millionaires, who are desperate to melt Bayern Munich’s eight-point advantage in the standings. Thomas Tuchel welcomes Marco Reus back to the starting line-up and, taking everything into account, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors this time out.

Tip: Borussia Dortmund to win

Odds: 1.70 (7/10) @bet365
