Argentina vs Honduras Team News
The likes of Carlos Tevez and Paulo Dybala have been left out of the squad, but Manchester City attacker Kun Aguero is in the squad and he is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Pablo Zabaleta has been overlooked as well, but the likes of Javier Mascherano, Ever Banega, Nicolas Otamendi and Leo Messi all made Argentina Copa America squad. Manchester United shoot-stopper Romero is likely to start in goal. Atletico Madrid footballers Augusto Fernandez and Matias Kranevitter made the final roster, but they miss the Honduras friendly due to club commitments.
Marco Vega and Rony Martinez return to contention, but Carlo Costly surprisingly rejected a call-up. Odis Borjas, Carlo Discua, Wilmer Fuentes and Marcelo Canales are in the squad as well, alongside youngster Jonathan Paz. The good news for the fans is that Jorge Carlos has overcome his injury and should be fit to play some part in Saturday’s friendly against Argentina.
- Under 2.5 goals were scored in four of Argentina’s last five games
- Tata Martino’s men suffered only one defeat in previous eight matches
- Honduras suffered three defeats in previous five away games
- Leo Messi has netted 50 goals for the national team so far
- Over 2.5 goals were scored in Honduras’ last three away matches
Argentina vs Honduras Prediction
Argentina will play their last warm-up game for the 2016 Copa America against Honduras and, no doubt, Tata Martino is going to field the best possible side against Jorge Pinto’s men. La Albiceleste are superior to their rivals and the likes of Kun Aguero and Leo Messi are likely to make life difficult for the opposition back line. The two teams meet for the first time ever on the international stage and, taking everything into account, Honduras are unlikely to upset Argentina in Buenos Aires.
