Koln vs Hertha prediction
After blowing their chance to climb to the top half of the standings at the weekend, Koln will be looking to start a new winning run in the Bundesliga when they host Hertha Berlin at their RheinEnergieStadion on Friday night.
Koln eyeing their fifth home win
Over the years Koln have established themselves as a mid-table side in German Bundesliga. The situation is pretty much the same in the 2015/2016 campaign as the Billy Goats sit in 12th place in the standings ahead of Matchday 23. The team’s goal remains unchanged and seeing that they are nine points clear of the relegation zone, there is every chance Peter Stoger’s men will secure yet another elite division survival. Koln have been producing fine displays at home ground this season; they are eyeing their fifth home win of the season, but coach Peter Stoger saw his men slip to a 1-0 loss to Borrussia in M’gladbach at the weekend. The Billy Goats are determined to return to winning ways and they are certainly capable of grabbing something from Friday’s clash against Hertha Berlin. Anthony Modeste is the team’s top scorer and all eyes will be on him when the two sides face each other at RheinEnergieStadion on Friday. The former Hoffenheim attacker has netted 10 goals this season to date.
Zoller misses the match with injury, but he is the only absentee in the home side. Coach Peter Stoger is likely to stick to the 3-4-2-1 formation, with aforementioned attacker Modeste likely to be deployed up front as a lone forward.
Hertha relying on their rock-solid defence
Hertha are on a five-match winless run in Bundesliga, but despite being in a poor form of late, the capital club still sit in the Champions League berth in the Bundesliga standings. Pal Dardai’s men have been misfiring in recent weeks and the fact that they scored only one goal in previous three league games is not giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of the trip to Koln. Hertha Berlin are not regarded as good travelers and you should have in mind that they have already suffered five defeats on the road in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. Salomon Kalou has been producing fine performances this season and the 30-year-old forward is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. It has to be noted that the former Chelsea attacker found the net in a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg at the weekend.
The likes of Langkamp, Schieber, Allagui and van den Bergh all miss the match with injury, whilst Darida is sidelined through suspension. Coach Pal Dardai has no other injury worries.
- Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of Koln’s last four games
- Koln recorded two wins in previous three home fixtures
- Hertha Berlin registered one victory in last five away matches
- Pal Dardai’s men are undefeated in previous five meetings with Koln
- Over 2.5 goals were scored in four of Hertha’s last five away games
Koln vs Hertha betting tip
Both Koln and Hertha aim to return to winning ways in the Bundesliga, but considering that both sides have been firing blanks of late, I would not be surprised if we see a low-scoring match at RheinEnergieStadion on Friday evening. Hertha recorded a 2-0 win over Koln in the reverse fixtures and it has to be noted that no more than two goals in total were scored in previous two meetings between the two teams in the national championship.
Tip: Under 2.5 goals
Odds: 1.60 (3/5) @BetVictor
