Premier League outfit Southampton have announced on their official website that they have recruited Portuguese defender Cedric Soares from Sporting Lisbon.
The Saints agreed to pay around €5 million for the highly rated full-back, with another €2 million depending on performance-related bonuses.
Cedric, 23, has signed a four-year contract at St Mary’s and he arrives at the club as a potential replacement for Nathaniel Clyne, who is being linked with a summer exit.
The Portugal international became the club’s second signing in the space of few days, after forward Juanmi joined from Malaga.
Cedric Soares is another impressive product of Sporting’s youth school and he has enjoyed an incredible rise over the last few years.
The talented footballer amassed a total of 67 league appearances for the Lions, while earning 4 Portugal caps as well.
