French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Liverpool have emerged as favourites to recruit Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
The Reds have been very active in the summer transfer window, having so far signed the likes of James Milner, Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, Adam Bogdan and Nathaniel Clyne, while Divock Origi returns from a loan spell at Lille.
And having seriously reinforces their front line, it looks as though Liverpool officials are now turning the attention to the centre of the park.
While Manchester United and Arsenal are both believed to be keen on Newcastle hotshot Moussa Sissoko, the latest reports suggest that Liverpool have moved to the front of the queue.
The Frenchman has been the only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Magpies, and it appears he is slowly losing his patience.
Sissoko is prepared to leave Newcastle for a top European side and he is bound to seriously consider any offer from Anfield.
The 25-year-old joined the Magpies in a €2.5 million deal from Toulouse in January 2013 and has since managed 10 goals and 9 assists in 81 Premier League matches.
