Kevin-Prince Boateng was on the verge of signing a deal with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, but the things eventually went wrong.
The Ghana footballer, who played for Schalke 04 and Milan in previous seasons, failed a medical, meaning that his deal with Sporting is off.
“Boateng was here in Lisbon. He underwent medical tests and failed because of a knee problem.
He had an operation on his knee at the age of 16 and he has been having problems for the last two or three years,”, Sporting director of international relations Augusto told SIC Noticias.
The 28-year-old footballer remains clubless and it remains to be seen if he will find a new club in days to come.
The former Hertha Berlin player was suspended by Schalke 04 in May following the team’s defeat to Koln in Bundesliga.
Boateng has 12 caps for Ghana, but he did not take part at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
