Peru coach Ricardo Gareca has announced a total of 12 players plying their trade abroad that will be in the squad for international friendlies against United States and Colombia.
La Blanquirroja will test their skills against two strong sides ahead of the start of the new qualifying campaign, following the third-place finish at the 2015 Copa America.
Peru boss Ricardo Gareca has now announced the first part of his roster, containing only players that earn their living outside of their native country.
The second part of the squad will be announced on August 31 and will be comprised of home-based players, with the coach having another two weeks to make his decisions.
The biggest surprise on the initial list is the absence of veteran striker Claudio Pizarro, but fellow forward Paolo Guerrero has been included.
Twente midfielder Renato Tapia returns to the squad, while Christofer Gonzalez and Cristian Benevente are among those to miss out.
Deportivo Municipal striker Ivan Bulos is almost certain to be added to the roster in two weeks’ time as coach Ricardo Gareca sees the 22-year-old as a future successor to Paolo Guerrero.
