Pizarro, Guerrero to make Peru squad for Colombia, Chile

Pizarro, Guerrero to make Peru squad for Colombia, ChileClaudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerrero are both expected to be named on Ricardo Gareca’s roster for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers vs Colombia and Chile.

Peru have had mixed success in the final warm-up games for said matches, having suffered a 2-1 loss to United States before sharing spoils with Colombia.

And while both star players missed the September friendlies, they should be back in the squad for the start of the qualifying campaign.

Coach Ricardo Gareca has hinted that Claudio Pizarro (81/20) will return having found a new club, returning to Werder Bremen for the third spell with the Bundesliga outfit.

Meanwhile, Paolo Guerrero (63/25) missed the September warm-up games through an ankle problem, but the boss is confident the 31-year-old will recover in time.

Daniel Chavez and Ivan Bulos will be hoping to keep their places in the side, but important defender Luis Advincula (51/0) is doubtful through a thigh problem.

Ricardo Gareca is expected to name his provisional squad for World Cup qualifiers on Friday, 18 September, and the full roster will be available in our South American news category as soon as it is announced.
