Leo Messi set to play against Mexico

Leo Messi set to play against MexicoDespite recent claims that Lionel Messi would be rested against Mexico in next month’s international friendly, the Barcelona ace is likely to play against El Tri.

Spanish journalist Veronica Brunati reported that the “Argentine Magician” would miss the upcoming friendly.

However, Argentina boss Gerardo Martino is positive that Messi will be called for the Mexico game.

“Messi has not made himself unavailable for the Mexico game. You’ll see that when I name my squad next week.”, Gerardo Martino said for Radio Uno.

Argentina failed to win the 2015 Copa America as they were beaten by hosts Chile after penalty shoot-out, with the team losing their second consecutive final at major tournaments.

It is well known that la Albiceleste were beaten by Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup title game. Leo Messi, though, impressed at the showpiece tournament in Brazil.

Messi has 98 caps for Argentina and he scored 45 goals for the national team, while providing 37 assists for his teammates.
