Jorge Sampaoli, who helped Chile win 2015 Copa America last summer, is on the verge of leaving the national team.
The Argentine tactician said in public that he was not happy with current situation in Chilean football and he was reportedly asking for a reduction of his exit clause.
The ANFP president Arturo Salah told him that he had to respect the contract, but Jorge Sampaoli is resolute in his decision to quit the job.
“I do not want to live and work in such environment. I am disappointed and I can’t continue working under these conditions because my mind is somewhere else”, Jorge Sampaoli said for Chilean newspapers.
“I just want my freedom back. If I need to pay penalties, I will, but if nothing changes, this may end up in court”, added the Argentine tactician.
As things stand now Chile FA should start looking for a replacement for Jorge Sampaoli, who led La Roja to their first ever Copa America title last year.
The Chileans sit in 5th place in their World Cup qualifying group and they were totally outplayed by Uruguay (3-0) in their last qualifier.
