Tozser left out of Hungary squad for Euro 2021 play-off vs Norway

Hungary coach Bernd Storck has raised quite a few eyebrows with his decision to leave star midfielder Daniel Tozser (31/1) out of the squad for Euro 2021 play-off tie against Norway.

Having narrowly missed out on an automatic qualification, Foci will face Norway on the road on 12 November before the return leg takes place three days later in Budapest, with Bernd Storck’s side priced at 2.38 (11/8) to qualify.

The national team coach Bernd Storck has now announced a preliminary 36-man squad for the upcoming crunch tie.

The biggest surprise is the omission of QPR midfielder Daniel Tozser, who had started seven Euro 2021 qualifiers while making another substitute appearance.

Star players Adam Szalai (28/8) and Zoltan Stieber (10/2) have been recalled, while Laszlo Kleinheisler earns his first call-up despite not making a single league appearance this season.

Having included quite a few Under-21 players in the provisional squad, chances are Bernd Storck will allow several of them to join the Under-21 side.

Update (08.11.): Dibusz Dénes, Nagy Gergely, Botka Endre, Korhut Mihály, Márkvárt Dávid, Kalmár Zsolt, Bódi Ádám, Gyurcsó Ádám and Varga Roland have been dropped from the provisional squad.

Hungary squad:
