Slutsky names Russia Euro 2021 squad

Leonid Slutsky has named his final Russia Euro 2021 squad, surprisingly including Schalke midfielder Roman Neustadter.

Sbornaya Komanda head to the tournament finals in great spirits despite being placed alongside England, Slovakia and Wales in Group B.

We now know the names of 23 players that will represent the country at the Euro 2021 finals as head coach Leonid Slutsky unveiled his final squad.

The Russia boss will have to make do without important defenders Oleg Kuzmin and Yuri Zhirkov as they failed to recover from their respective injuries.

Roman Shishkin and Georgi Schennikov will replace said duo in the squad, while CSKA Moscow youngster Aleksandr Golovin keeps his place.

But, the biggest surprise was the inclusion of Schalke midfielder Roman Neustadter, who recently switched his allegiance from Germany as is still uncapped for Russia.

Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev is another player who misses out through injury, but star players Roman Shirokov, Artem Dzyuba, and Aleksandr Kokorin are all included.

CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev picked up a serious injury after the squad had been announced and he has since been replaced with Dmitri Torbinski.
