Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has been included in Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Germany and Poland.
Republic of Ireland sit two points behind the automatic qualifying berth and they will have a chance to leapfrog Poland when the two sides meet in Warsaw on 11 October.
With that in mind, it has to be noted that the Irish can be backed at 2.38 (11/8) to qualify for the Euro 2016 finals.
The national team coach Martin O’Neill has now unveiled the list of 40 players that are in contention for matches against Germany and Poland.
Everton star Darron Gibson is included despite failing to play for the Toffees this season through a knee problem, while Alan Judge, Adam Rooney and Eunan O’Kane will be hoping to earn their maiden caps.
AFC Bournemouth’s Harry Arter is back from injury, while there are no important missings as of yet.
Martin O’Neil will trim down his squad before the players arrive in Dublin on 4 October to start preparations for crucial Euro 2016 qualifiers.
