Andrea Pirlo, Daniele De Rossi and Mario Balotelli could all be left out of Italy squad for the Euro 2021 finals, according to the latest reports from Italy.
The three footballers all had key roles to play at the previous European Championship as the Azzurri finished as runners up, but they are no longer considered indispensable by coach Antonio Conte.
After making just three appearances in the qualifying campaign and having moved to MLS, Andrea Pirlo faces a tough task of making Italy’s Euro 2021 squad.
The latest reports suggest that Antonio Conte is ready to leave his star player out of the side, with Daniele De Rossi another high-profile name expected to miss out.
The Roma stalwart also featured in just three Euro 2021 qualifiers, and it would appear as though the coach will not be taking him to France.
At the same time, it is perfectly clear that Mario Balotelli will not be featuring in France either, with Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi vying for the role of fifth striker in the squad.
Before facing the likes of Belgium, Sweden and Republic of Ireland at the tournament finals, Italy will play Spain (24.03.), Germany (29.03.), Scotland (29.05.) and Finland (06.06.) in four warm-up games.
