Petkovic names Switzerland Euro 2021 squad

Vladimir Petkovic has announced the provisional Switzerland squad for the Euro 2021 finals, leaving captain Gokhan Inler out of the side.

The Rossocrociati eased off to a place at the European Championships and have since been drawn alongside hosts France, Romania and Albania in Group A.

Switzerland head coach Vladimir Petkovic has revealed his preliminary squad for the Euro 2021, and he has until May 31st to finalise his roster.

As expected, captain Gokhan Inler misses out after struggling for playing time at Leicester City, but FC Basel forward Breel Embolo is included despite battling a knee problem.

However, the coach also decided to leave the likes of Timm Klose, Fabian Lustenberger, Valentin Stocker and Pajtim Kasami out of a 28-man squad, while Denis Zakaria is the only uncapped player on the list.

Striker Josip Drmic had been earlier ruled out through a knee injury, meaning that Haris Seferovic is now the first option up front.

Switzerland will play their final warm-up games against Belgium (May 28) and Moldova (June 3), before they travel to France.
