Limbersky could miss out on Czech Republic’s Euro 2021 squad

Limbersky could miss out on Czech Republic's Euro 2021 squadCzech Republic full-back David Limbersky is in danger of being dropped from the national team after he was involved in a car accident.

The 31-year-old crashed his car in Prague and attempted to flee the scene, before arguing with police officers.

His blood alcohol level was above 0.15 percent and he now faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

Limbersky has since been stripped of the captaincy at his club Viktoria Plzen, while he faces a nervous wait over his international future.

Czech coach Pavel Vrba is expected to hold talks with the experienced defender in the coming days, after which he will decide whether the footballer will remain in contention for a place at the Euro 2021.

Czech Republic secured their place at the tournament finals thanks to back to back wins over Kazakhstan and Latvia, with Limbersky playing full ninety minutes in seven of eight qualifiers, and scoring the opening goal in the Latvia clash.

The left-sided defender has been capped 32 times by the national team and his absence from the Euro 2021 would be considered a major blow.
