Schalke starlet Leroy Sane has suggested that he will continue to represent Germany at international level despite also being eligible to play for France.
The 19-year-old exploded into the biggest stage last season and he has continued with some impressive displays for the Miners this term.
Sane is already being tipped to receive a senior Germany call-up after some excellent showings for the Under-19 and Under-21 sides, but there is a slight possibility that he will represent France national team instead.
Namely, the attacking midfielder also has a French passport, although it appears that he would prefer to play for Die Mannschaft.
“Do not worry. I see my future in Germany (national team),” Sane confessed to German media outlet Sport Bild.
Nevertheless, there is a possibility that the player could change his mind unless he receives a call from Joachim Low in the near future.
Leroy Sane still have time to earn a place in Germany’s Euro 2021 squad, and there are no doubts that national team chiefs want him to continue playing for Die Mannschaft.
“Of course that we want every talent with us. Leroy Sane has been formed in Germany, he has performed very well,” DFB sporting director Hansi Flick told Sport Bild.
“Ultimately, each player must decide for himself who he wants to play for. The one who wears the national jersey must also be clearly committed to us, but I assume that to be the case (with Sane).”
