Danny Blind names Netherlands squad for Iceland, Turkey qualifiers

Danny Blind names Netherlands squad for Iceland, Turkey qualifiersNetherlands coach Danny Blind has announced a provisional 31-man squad for Euro 2021 qualifiers vs Iceland and Turkey.

The 54-year-old took over the reigns from Guus Hiddink following the slow start to the current qualifying campaign and he has four games to ensure Oranje qualify for the tournament finals.

This will be no easy task given that his side trail Czech Republic and Iceland by three and five points respectively, but it would appear as though Netherlands hold matters in their own hands.

Bilnd has now revealed his provisional squad for September qualifiers against Iceland and Turkey, with Ajax youngsters Kenny Tete and Jairo Riedewald in line to win their first caps.

Newcastle midfielder Vurnon Anita (2/0) returns after a five-year absence, while Marco van Ginkel (2/0) is another surprise inclusion.

Arjen Robben, Terence Kongolo and Paul Verhaegh return as well, but Rafael van der Vaart, Daryl Janmaat and Karim Rekik all miss out.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Robin van Persie are included despite struggling for fitness, but Jordy Clasie, Ron Vlaar, Leroy Fer, Jetro Willems and Kevin Strootman are out injured.
