Belgium will not face Scotland in a friendly as part of preparations for Euro 2021 as the Scottish FA have asked for too much money. As result, the Red Devils decided to snub Scotland and they will take on Norway instead.
Seeing that Belgium have been drawn alongside Republic of Ireland in Group E, the Red Devils wanted to face Scotland in an international friendly as the two sides are similar in playing style.
However, Scotland and Belgium failed to reach an agreement over the friendly game and Marc Wilmots blames the “greedy” Scots for the failure.
“We failed to reach an agreement. The Scots were asking for too much, but I am pleased with the fact that we will face Norway, whose style of play is a bit British”, said Marc Wilmots at the press conference.
Belgium and Norway square off against each other on 5 June. The match will be played in Belgium, but the venue has yet to be chosen.
