Andriy Shevchenko added to Ukraine coaching staff

Legendary Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko has been selected as the latest addition to the country’s national team coaching staff.

The information has been confirmed by the Football Federation of Ukraine who have officially presented the former AC Milan and Chelsea forward in front of the coaching and administrative team’s staff in the House of Football in Kyiv on 16 February.

Ukraine coaches Volodymir Onyshchenko, Yuri Syvukha and Vitaliy Shpanyuk would remain in the team and will continue to work together with Andriy Shevchenko on Ukraine’s preparations for Euro 2021.

Ukraine have two upcoming friendly games ahead of them – Cyprus on 24 March and Wales four days later as Mikhail Formenko’s men commence their preparations for the 2016 European Championship in France.

Ukraine finished their Euro 2021 qualifying campaign in third place in Group C, but they secured their place in the finals through the play-offs, having beaten Slovenia in the two-legged tie.

They have been pitted in Group C together with Germany, Poland and Northern Ireland and there is no doubt that Shevchenko’s vast experience will be beneficial for the team during their European quest in France.
