Costa Rica coach Paulo Wanchope has received more bad news in the build up to the tournament finals with goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado suffering a foot injury.
La Sele had earlier stayed without first choice goalie Keylor Navas, with Patrick Pemberton called as his replacement and Alvarado taking over the number one spot.
The AZ Alkmaar shot-stopper played full ninety minutes in the 2-2 friendly international draw with Mexico, but it has now been revealed that he has a foot injury that makes him a doubt for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Esteban Alvarado, 26, may miss the entire tournament after suffering a problem to the sole of his right foot, and coach Paulo Wanchope has less than a week to decide whether to keep the highly rated footballer in the squad.
In case he fails to recover, Leonel Moreira would be added to the squad, while one of Danny Carvajal and Patrick Pemberton would start the opening fixture against Jamaica on July 8.
Important players Keylor Navas, Yeltsin Tejeda, Bryan Oviedo and Oscar Duarte had been earlier ruled out of the tournament finals.
