Australia midfielder Mile Jedinak is expected to miss the 2018 World Cup qualifiers vs Bangladesh and Tajikistan through injury.
The 31-year-old was named in Ange Postecoglu’s 23-man squad for the September qualifiers, but it looks as though he will be forced to withdraw from the roster.
Namely, Jedinak suffered a hamstring injury playing for Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup and manager Alan Pardew believes his captain is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“I’m a little bit worried about the skipper, he might have done a hamstring, but we’ll have to wait and see,” Pardew said.
“We think he might have done something a little bit long term, but we’ll have to assess him in the morning.”
Australia began the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign with 2-1 away win over Kyrgyzstan, and they will want to continue in the same manner.
