Dussuyer names Ivory Coast squad for Sierra Leone qualifier

Dussuyer names Ivory Coast squad for Sierra Leone qualifier Ivory Coast coach Michael Dussuyer has left out a number of star players as he unveiled 23-man squad to face Sierra Leone in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Elephants did not have the best of starts to the qualifying campaign, having shared spoils with Gabon in their opening fixture and they will be eager to return to winning ways.

Ivory Coast will face Sierra Leone in Lagos, Nigeria, seeing as Leone Stars are banned from hosting international matches due to Ebola crisis.

The Elephants boss Michael Dussuyer was forced to leave Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure (100/19) out of the 23-man roster as the Premier League star is pondering international retirement.

Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote (53/1) does not appear to be too keen on representing the national team either, and he misses out as well.

“As for Cheick Tiote we tried to get in contact with him through various means but there was no sign of life,” Dussuyer was quoted as saying.

Siaka Tiene (100/2) and Lacina Traore (13/4) have been overlooked as well, with the coach clearly looking to rebuild the squad in years to come.

Ivory Coast squad:

Goalkeepers: Sylvain Gbohou (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Ali Sangare Badra (Asec Mimosas) Made Sayouba (Stabaek, Norway);
