Verona vs Inter prediction

Opening match of the Sunday match programme in Serie A is set to take place at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi with Hellas Verona looking to build up on their latest positive result.

First win since December

The Gialloblu are heading into the high-profile match with Inter on the back of their morale-boosting midweek triumph over Atalanta. The 2-1 win was Verona’s first since December in all competition and first league triumph in general this season. Luigi Delneri’s troops have been sitting in the gutter with 14 points to their name and their latest triumph comes as a reward after three consecutive draws. The hosts are the least efficient side in the league, having scored only 16 goals so far and that will be their biggest problem for the upcoming match against Inter, who boast the best defence line in the Serie A. The experienced striking duo Luca Toni and Giampaolo Pazzini have failed to make their mark this season, with the latter being the club’s top scorer this season with four goals this term. Verona failed to make any moves during the January transfer window and the team is in for a tough relegation struggle until the very end of the season.

Perhaps the only positive note ahead of Inter visit is the current squad situation, as Delneri will have to do with only two unavailable players. Samuel Souprayen is out with inflammation, while Federico Viviani remains the long-term absentee with his ankle surgery.

Are problems over for Mancini?

Inter are not at the best place at the moment and the atmosphere is pretty low in the camp. Back-to-back losses to Serie A rivals Juventus and AC Milan have left a huge scar and Roberto Mancini is under huge pressure. The Italian manager has started to break down under the load on his shoulders and has been involved in numerous incident in recent weeks. Mancini has reprimanded his strikers for their lack of goals claiming he would be better off playing in the attack himself. Subsequently, Inter manager showed his middle finger to AC Milan fans on his way to the tunnel following an expulsion from the game and the general situation in Inter is far from positive. The 1-0 win over Chievo during the week has somewhat steadied the ship, but Inter are not on the course they would like to be. Title contenders from the beginning of the season have suffered a great dip in form and are struggling to find their ground. Sitting fourth in the league, Mancini’s men are nine points behind leaders Napoli and their title push looks over already. In order to boost his team’s chances Mancini has brought in Eder from Sampdoria, who has scored 12 goals this term and who is expected to increase the competition upfront and improve the efficiency.

Miranda and Jeison Murillo are unavailable due to their yellow card suspensions, while Roberto Mancini has no other selection worries ahead of the trip to Verona.

Quick Facts

  • Verona have managed only one Serie A win this season
  • Inter have conceded only 17 goals this term
  • Hellas Verona have scored merely 16 goals so far
  • Mancini’s charges have lost last two games on the road
  • Inter have won 3 of last 5 meetings with Verona

Verona vs Inter betting tip

Inter are desperate to record another win, while Verona are simply desperate this season. They are the worst team in the league by far and I don’t see them making anything out of their clash with Inter.

Tip: Both teams to score – No
