Udinese vs Napoli prediction

Napoli will be aiming to keep their title hopes alive with a victory over Udinese, whose Serie A status is in danger ahead of Matchday 31. The Partenopei face yet another must-win game, but the hosts will certainly give their best to claim a major scalp in the opening match of Sunday’s program.

Three-game winless run

Following back-to-back defeats to the likes of Frosinone and Roma, Sassuolo played out a 1-1 draw with Udinese in their last league game. The Zebrette are on a three-game winless run in the league and they have been slipping down the standings week by week. New coach Luigi De Canio and his troops recorded only one win in previous 12 league matches and, no doubt, they head into Sunday’s clash against title-chasing Napoli low on confidence. Udinese are just three points clear of the relegation zone at the moment and one thing is for sure: the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in order to grab something from the clash. Antonio Di Natale is not as sharp and pacey as he used to be in the past and seeing that the Italian veteran has netted only one goal this season, the opposition defenders should not find it hard to contain the 38-year-old footballer.

Guilherme is sidelined with injury, while Heurtaux is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Luigi De Canio is likely to stick to the 3-5-2 formation.

Important win over Genoa

Napoli did remarkably well to come from behind and beat Genoa at their Stadio San Paolo in their last league game. The Partenopei are on a three-game winning run in the league and they are breathing down Juve’s neck at the moment. The Neapolitans are just three points behind the league leaders and they need to keep on winning if they are to clinch their first domestic trophy since 1990. Maurizio Sarri is doing a great job with the Stadio San Paolo outfit and, as before, he will rely on top scorer Gonzalo Higuain, who has netted 29 goals in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign to date. The Partenopei are after their ninth away win of the season, but they can’t afford any complacency in Sunday’s clash against the relegation-threatened hosts.

Goalkeeper Pepe Reina is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Maurizio Sarri has no other injury worries ahead of the trip to Udine. Jose Callejon is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of Udinese’s last four home games
  • Zebrette failed to beat Napoli in previous three meetings between the two teams
  • Napoli are eyeing their fourth consecutive win in the league
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in each of Napoli’s last four away games
  • Gonzalo Higuain scored the winner for Napoli in the reverse fixture (1-0)

Udinese vs Napoli betting tip

Napoli sit in second place in the standings ahead of the trip to Udine, but a win over the Zebrette could see them climb to the top position in the table. The hosts have been struggling to find their form of late and taking into account that Maurizio Sarri has a full squad to choose from, there is every chance the visitors will pick up all three points from the match.

Tip: Napoli to win
