Sassuolo vs Torino betting tip

Sassuolo and Torino face each other in a postponed fixture at Stadio Citta del Tricolore. Il Toro did well to put an end to their three-match losing run at the weekend and their fresh confidence will be tested in Wednesday’s game against the Neroverdi.

Sassuolo still unbeaten at home ground

Sassuolo are enjoying yet another successful season. The Neroverdi sit in the top half of the Serie A standings ahead of the visit of Torino and a win over Il Toro would see the hosts overtake Milan in sixth place in the table. Eusebio di Francesco’s troops suffered a 3-1 loss to Napoli at Stadio San Paolo at the weekend, but the team managed to beat Inter at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in their last away fixture in the national championship. Sassuolo are unbeaten at their Stadio Citta del Tricolore this season and that is giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Torino. The Neroverdi aim to strengthen their grip on a place in the top half of the table and they are definitely capable of grabbing something from the match. Nicola Sansone has been struggling to find his scoring boots of late, but he should lead the attack for the hosts against Il Toro.

The likes of Floro Flores, Terranova and Missiroli are all sidelined with injury, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Lorenzo Pellegrini should return to the starting XI.

Morale-boosting win over Frosinone

Thanks to a thrilling 4-2 win over relegation strugglers Frosinone Torino put an end to their three-match losing run in the Serie A. Giampiero Ventura’s men returned to winning ways in the national championship, but they do not want to stop now. A win over Sassuolo would see them move a little closer to the European places and no doubt the visitors will adopt an attack-minded approach in Wednesday’s game. Il Toro, though, have been struggling on the travels this season and seeing that they have already suffered five defeats on the road this term, I do not believe that there is a big value in betting on Giampiero Ventura’s troops this time out. Ciro Immobile returned to Turin in the January transfer window and the on-loan attacker will certainly pose a big threat for the opposition defenders.

Bruno Peres is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day, while the likes of Obi, Jansson and Pryima are all out of contention through injury. Andrea Belotti has found his goal-scoring touch of late and he is likely to keep his place up front.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in previous four meetings between the two teams
  • Sassuolo are on an eleven-match unbeaten run at home ground in Serie A
  • Neroverdi have kept only two clean sheets on home soil this season
  • Torino suffered five defeats in last six away games in the league
  • Giampiero Ventura’s men are undefeated at Stadio Citta del Tricolore

Sassuolo vs Torino betting tip

When the two sides take on each other in national championship a low-scoring affair is guaranteed. In previous four meetings between the two teams seven goals in total have been netted and seeing that Torino struggle on the travels, I believe that there is a big value in betting on under 2.5 goals. In their last meeting in the Serie A the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.67 (2/3) @Pinnacle
