Sampdoria vs Juventus prediction

Following a routine 3-0 win over Verona, Juventus face a more difficult task in Sunday’s Serie A game against Sampdoria. The Bianconeri are just three points behind league leaders Inter, meaning that a win over la Samp could see the defending champions climb to top position in the standings.

Signs of improvement

Sampdoria finished 2015 on a high, with the team beating Palermo at their Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris. La Samp want to continue where they left last year and they did well to defeat their local rivals Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna on Tuesday evening. Vincenzo Montella’s men are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of title holders Juventus, but the hosts will have to be at the top of their game if they are to claim a major scalp on day 19 of the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. Sampdoria failed to beat Juve in last four meetings between the two teams and it remains to be seen if they are capable of putting an end to the negative trend. Roberto Soriano scored a brace in the local derby in midweek, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay in Sunday’s clash.

Lorenzo De Silvestri misses the match with injury, but coach Vincenzo Montella has no other selection worries ahead of the Juventus game. The former Fiorentina boss is likely to stick to the 4-3-2-1 formation.

Juve eyeing their ninth consecutive win

Juventus endured a surprisingly poor start to the season, but the Bianconeri managed to rise from the dead. The reigning champions have been impressive in the Serie A of late and they will be looking to record their ninth consecutive win in the national championship when they take on Sampdoria at Stadio Communale Luigi Ferraris on Sunday. Juve, though, have yet to retain top position in the standings and no doubt Max Allegri’s troops will go all guns blazing at la Samp. As expected, Juventus recorded a routine 3-0 win over Verona in midweek, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Sunday’s encounter against Vincenzo Montella’s team. Paul Pogba is undisputedly the team’s key player and he is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back line. Paulo Dybala was struggling to find his form at the start of the season, but he has been raising his form week by week and the Argentine forward, who has netted nine goals so far, will certainly pose a big threat for Sampdoria defenders.

Mario Mandzukic is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day, whilst Claudio Marchisio is sidelined through suspension. The likes of Pereyra, Lemina and Barzagli are all out of contention with injury.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in four of Sampdoria’s previous five home games
  • Sampdoria are on a four-game winless run in matches against Juventus
  • Juve are after their fifth consecutive away win
  • Max Allegri’s men scored 3+ goals in three of their previous four away games
  • Bianconeri netted six goals in last three meetings between the two teams

Sampdoria vs Juventus betting tip

Juventus are determined to win their fifth consecutive Scudetto and seeing that they sit in 4th place in the Serie A standings ahead of the trip to Genoa, no doubt, Max Allegri will field the best possible side against Sampdoria. La Samp have been in a fine form of late, but considering that Juve do not suit Vincenzo Montella’s troops, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors.

Tip: Juventus to win
