Napoli vs Genoa prediction
Napoli will host Genoa this Sunday evening at Stadio San Paolo. I Partenopei want to build on their consecutive triumphs in the Serie A, in order to keep pace with high-flying Juventus and keep their title dream alive.
Higuain keeps Napoli in game
Gozalo Higuain’s first-half penalty secured a triumph against Palermo in the previous round of the Serie A. Napoli are still three points behid the Old Lady, but if the Argentina international continues with his amazing displays, it will be possible for Maurizio Sarri’s side to take the trophy home. With 27 league goals this season, 29 in all competitions, Higuain is the main reason Napoli are still active in the Scudetto fight. He already managed to match his career-best and with enough time to break the record till the end of the season. Stadio San Paolo outfit are on a seven-game undefeated run against their forthcoming opponents and, bearing in mind the Partenopei are the only team in the league undefeated on home soil, it is more than obvious who the favorites are in the upcoming clash, especially bearing in mind that Genoa recorded three straight loses on their travels of late.
Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon are expected to form a trio with Pipita in attack, even though there were some reports that Gonzalo Higuain has certain issues with his ankle injury, and will have to wait for the final decision of the medical staff.
Genoa far from convincing on the road
Genoa recorded important back-to-back triumphs in the Serie A against Empoli and Torino, and with those six points they managed to move deeper in the safe zone. In their match against il Toro, il Grifone came back from being two goals behind thanks to a brace of Alessio Cerci and the final touch by Rigoni. Luca Rigoni is most responsible for these successive wins, as he scored the winners in both of them. Stadio Luigi Ferraris are now eight points away from the relegation zone, hence not under pressure of achieveing a positive result in the forthcoming clash. I Rossobly are far from convincing when on their travels, whith a single away victory since the beginning of the season. Thanks to their toothless attack, Gasperini’s charges managed to net less than a goal per game on average on the road, so I do not expect they are capable of creating much problems to Napoli’s defenders this time out.
Gian Piero Gasperini will be without the likes of Ezequiel Munoz, due to his ankle injury. Alassane Tambe is back in training, but will remain sidelined, while Tachtsidis is a doubt, since he is out with a fever.
- Napoli are on a seven-game undefeated run against Genoa
- I Partenopei are undefeated on home soil this term in the league
- Genoa won their last match at San Paolo in 2008
- Il Grifone recorded a single triumph in their last fifteeen Serie A away fixtures
- Higuain scored three goals in as many matches
Napoli vs Genoa betting tip
It is more than obvious that Maurizio Sarri’s charges are the absolute favorites in the forthcoming meeting. It seems highly unlikely that Genoa are capable of recording a positive result this Sunday, taking under consideration their negative away streak. This is why I will put my money on the Partenopei.
